getting there

getting there

A quick note: northern Thailand has it's annual burning season in February and march. conditions are less than ideal. Visibility in cities like chiang mai can be low and the air quality less than desirable. so if you're planning to explore northern thailand, please take that into consideration. krabi is in southern thailand, where we won't be impacted by the annual burning ritual.

GETTING TO RAYAVADEE, KRABI, THAILAND

LOCATION

Rayavadee is located at the tip of the Phranang Peninsula on Thailand’s Andaman coastline in the southern province of Krabi. Less well known than the popular tourist island of Phuket, Krabi is just a two hour and fifteen minute drive overland on well-paved roads to Phuket International Airport and a short, 35 minute speedboat trip to Phi Phi Island.

Rayavadee is surrounded on all sides by beaches and two of the three beaches are often mentioned amongst the best of Southeast Asia. Railay Beach, a large crescent-shaped swathe of sand framed by dramatic limestone cliffs, is considered one of the best rock climbing destinations in the world. Phranang Beach is celebrated for its beautiful soft white sand and for its shrine to a local princess of lore. Rayavadee is nestled between these beaches and jungle-topped cliffs on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park and offers views to Poda, Chicken Tub islands.

ARRIVING BY AIR INTO KRABI

There are numerous daily flights between Bangkok and Krabi International Airport on several airlines including Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways. Budget carriers such as Air Asia also offer regular daily flights. The flight time takes one hour. *From December 2016, Qatar Air has announced it will fly direct to Krabi from Doha 4 times per week.

Once on the ground, our hotel representative or your travel agent’s representative (depending on your arrangements) will be waiting for you with a sign and will transfer you by van or by car to our private pier. While it is possible to make your own transfer arrangements to our pier, we do not recommend it due to the logistics involved. Please be sure to inform the hotel in advance of your arrival time whether you book directly with us or not to avoid long waiting times and other unforeseen inconveniences.

The transfer time from the airport to the pier is 25 minutes. Once at the pier, you will be met by a member of our boat crew and you will join our transfer boat for a short trip to our property (traveling time 20 minutes). The ride offers lovely views of the coastline.

ARRIVING BY AIR INTO PHUKET

For those arriving into Phuket Airport, our hotel representative or your own travel agent’s representative (depending on your arrangements) will be waiting for you with a sign and will transfer you by van or by car to our private pier. The overland transfer time by car or van from Phuket Airport to the pier is approximately two hours and fifteen minutes. If you are being picked up from a hotel in Phuket, the transfer time will depend on the location of where you are staying as the island is large and can be traffic at times.

NIGHT TIME TRANSFERS

Please note that the resort does not operate boat transfers between the hours of 23:00 and 05:00hrs. If your arrival or departure falls between these times, please contact our reservations department at reservation@rayavaadee.com to discuss your arrangements.

INDEPENDENT ARRIVAL ARRANGEMENTS

If you have booked your stay through an online travel agent such as Agoda, Booking.com or Expedia, it is essential that you advise us of your arrival and departure times at least 48 hours in advance of arrival and let us know if you will require an airport transfer or not. If you prefer to take a local taxi to our pier, this is fine but you need to be aware of the boat departure times on the day of your arrival or you could have to wait at the pier for up to an hour. You can inform the online agent of your plans but to ensure the very best arrival experience, we would ask you to contact us directly at reservation@rayavadee.com with your arrival and departure details. Your contact details are not provided to us automatically at the time of booking so please do get in touch and let us know how to reach you.

SHARED VAN AND BOAT TRANSFERS

Unless you specifically book private arrangements, your van transfer and your boat transfer will be shared with other resort guests. Our vans can accommodate up to 5 adults with luggage and our boats can accommodate up to 14 persons. While we make every effort to minimize the waiting time of our guests at the airport and at our pier, it may be necessary to wait for other guests for up to 30 minutes when there are two flights arriving at almost the same time. We thank you for your kind understanding with this matter.

ARRIVING TO AND DEPARTING
BY FERRY FROM RAYAVADEE

The Ao Nang Princess Ferry operates between Krabi and Phuket, Phi Phi and Koh Lanta Islands according to a timetable which you can find by following the link here http://www.aonangtravel.co.th/home/enPlease note that the ferry schedule changes fairly often and sometimes without any advance notice so for this reason, we cannot provide you with a confirmed ferry timetable. Please check with the ferry company directly and let us know in advance your planned time of arrival to the resort. Please note that this is a local service and not a luxury one. You can download more information on the ferry experience by clickinghere

ARRIVING TO AND DEPARTING TO PHUKET
BY PRIVATE BOAT ARRANGEMENT

It is possible to take our Rayavadee speedboat by private arrangement from Phuket to our pier Kindly note that you will need to depart from one of Phuket’s marinas and you will therefore need a land transfer from the airport or from the hotel you are staying at in Phuket to reach the pier. This is included in the price of the transfer. Traveling time is approximately 90 minutes from the marina to our beach. All boat departures from Phuket are subject to weather conditions on the day of travel. When the boat transfer is not available, a land transfer arrangement will be made for you instead. For more information and pricing, please contact us at reservation@rayavadee.com

WHAT TO WEAR
It's going to be tropical and warm. You’ll need to pack plenty of light and airy clothing with you! Think island vibes and uncle swag.

For our ceremony, if at all possible, we'd love it if everyone could wear colors from this color palette (we realize this is short notice - sorry - so if you've already got your attire, no worries). neutrals like khaki, light gray, charcoals, blush, taupe, browns, tan, dusty blue.

WHAT TO bring
Don't forget to bring your swimsuit and all the things to protect yourself from the sun: hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
